General Contractor Advice

I am looking for a contractor to help with removing a wall in a ranch, probably load bearing.  I may settle for a support post.  Then doing a kitchen gut/remodel.  Any advice?

Also, can you recommend any brand of cabinets or place to purchase mid-level cabinetry?
