What do I need to know about Old Brooklyn/Brooklyn area?

Hi BP,

I recently closed on my first house! I am house-hacking a duplex and currently updating the top unit to hopefully get a tenant in by Christmas. I am keeping this open-ended as to get any advice that you all find pertinent.

I really like the area and seems to be quiet with decently kept homes. Anything I need to know as a landlord in this area and/or also as a homeowner?
