Young and naive padawan in desperate search of guidance
Hello All,
I apologize for the interruption and hope I am in the right community. I am a young professional that will be relocating to CLE within the next month for my new job. I will be moving with my fiancé (to be married this January) and we are both still very much intimidated and quite frankly frightened in regards to the move. Among leaving South TX - where snow for us is a folk-tale but more importantly we need a place to live! After some light research & heavy angst we have come to the conclusion that "house hacking" a multifamily property might be best suited for us to wade through some of the growing pains as well as officially kick off our investment portfolio. --This will be the first real estate purchase for either of us--.
My job will be located smack dab in the middle of downtown in the warehouse district. My fiancé has her MPH and is desperately looking to see what she can find. But ideally we'd like both of our work commutes to be as short as possible because of our lack of experience - and competence driving in the snow.In our brief scouting of the area she has inevitably taken a liking to trendier areas like Lakewood, Tremont and Ohio City. We have seen a few multi-families come and go on the market over the last two months but we know we'll need to act quickly to nab one that will prove to be fruitful.
With all that being said we would be very very appreciative for any newbie advice, recommendations or referrals you could offer with respect to CLE.
Thank You Tons!
