How to Properly Terminate Section 8 Tenant on Month To Month

Ok, Unfortunately I find myself with needing to terminate a tenancy with a Section 8 tenant. What is the protocol here? It is 4-29-17, if i deliver a 30 days to vacate before 5-1-17 the month of May will be her final month? Is this correct? I understand in Ohio accepting rent adds problems. Since the tenant pays each month in advance how to I collect her portion on CMHA's portion for the month of May?

What is the protocol you know and have been successful with?
