Dealing with a bully condo building manager
Hi, I'm not too sure if this is the right place for my question but I'm seeking advice on dealing with a bully building manager.
I need to replace a new window on my apartment (a high-rise condo in UWS NYC) and the bldg mgr says I need to work with this company that does all the window works for my building. I don't mind hiring any company but problem with this company is the price -- their quote is more than double of the quote from a vendor I contacted.
I'm a renter and I've been living in my current building for two years. The building manager is very rude and being a bully. I can tell that from the way he communicates in our email communications. The owner of my apartment is a nice lady but doesn't know much about the maintenance and repair side.
What legal rights do I have as a tenant/renter to hire a repair vendor? Thank you.

Hey Brian,
I agree with a lot of what Joe wrote.
Why are you responsible for the repairs to the window/why isn't the owner dealing with this?
