First time home buyer in Brooklyn/Queens

Hi everyone, I currently live in Seattle and looking to move to New York towards the end of this year. Even though I am not a home flipper per se, but as a first time home buyer, I am looking for a single family home in Brooklyn or Queens that can use lot of cosmetic upgrades, live in it myself for a few years, before selling it. My price budget is $700-$800K for an entry level home (~1500sq2). What neighborhoods in Brooklyn or Queens do you suggest I should look into?
