Converting Duplex to Single home in FOX Park

Hey everyone, 

Just bought a duplex in the historic district Fox Park, my plan is to convert it into a single. 

what is the procedure that i'll have to do, i mean step by step.  (architect planner / permits etc...) 

that's my first time that im converting a house and in an historic district, so i'll be happy to get some insights!
