Hi from China, invest from abroad!
Hello BP Community!
I signed up for BP a while back but never took the time to write a proper intro yet! First off @Joshua Dorkin and @Brandon Turner thank you for the amazing podcast! It keeps me very entertained all the way here in Shanghai, China!
Quick intro: I am from Taiwan originally, moved to St. Charles, MO and lived there for 10+ years. Lived in Australia for a year, then "at sea" for 2 years (Cruise Ship job), and now, a new job opportunity took me to Shanghai, China.
I work in finance for giant tech company here in Shanghai, and my husband, who is Croatian, works as Navigation Officer on a Cruise Ship also out of Shanghai.
Background: Last year, we bought a foreclosure property in Missouri and rented it out through Zillow since we had some free time. It's going well so far! We are pretty good at saving for down payments due to our lifestyles abroad and savings from working on a cruise, therefore, we are hoping to put the $ to good use.
Goals: Our focus is mostly on creating passive income and getting the cash-flow to fund our travels! Hoping to generate enough cash flow in order to quit my day job by age 30 to volunteer, travel, and work on things I'm more passionate about. That's in 3 years, it's ambitious but never hurts to try!
Advice needed: Since we are in Shanghai, we are hoping to find TK companies to assist, perhaps in the KC area, or honestly any other areas that is up and coming. Also need advice on financing, we are able to save large chunks of $ for down payments but how would I go about getting a loan for the rest of the properties from abroad? I have a great credit score of 799 and no loan history so far.
Thank you all in advance, hopefully we will reach our goals and be able to travel to some BP meet ups back in USA :)
Eager to learn,
Sherry
