Renovation Permit - Minneapolis
I'm currently applying for a renovation permit on my rental unit. I'm not making any structural changes, simply upgrading the kitchen and bathroom. My plans have been approved and now I need to pay for the fee and I believe schedule an inspection.
I have a couple questions:
-Would it be a problem if I've started the work already?
-I also still need to apply for a new rental license. Will I need to schedule a second inspection (on top of the rehab inspection?)
Thanks!

@Luis Arellano Contgrats on the new rental.
-Would it be a problem if I've started the work already? You can start the work but must stop at a point where an inspection is required. For example, you can do the demolition and get your electrical ready for inspection but not go so far as you have covered the walls to hide the electrical. I recommend you ask the permit office what stages the inspections are required at so you don't make a mistake that could cost you many weeks and a fair amount of work.
-I also still need to apply for a new rental license. Will I need to schedule a second inspection (on top of the rehab inspection?) Yes, but it's part of the permit process. Once you apply and pay for your fee you are allowed to market and lease your property. The city inspector will reach out to schedule the inspection after your application is received. It can take 1-4 months after you apply for them to inspect so don't wait for it. just go about your business and fill the unit. Just get the list of items they look at and make sure they are good. Ex smoke & CO2 detectors, handrailings on all stairways, etc
