Seems like there is one called the 16% rule or something similar.

You can get alot of info from reading this forum and googling the subject.

Once you've done that search on Amazon and buy some of the ones with the best and most reviews.

The information varies drastically from State to State.

Then if your lucky you live in one of the best states to buy tax liens.

Honestly I don't think there is a good one I have found. The biggest issue is that is very local. Even when the state law is statewide the way it is implemented gets very local. Most of the books I have seen or read are at best a very broad nationwide overview. If you just need an idea of how it works read a book. The 16pct solution book is good for what it is...but now fairly old. I think it was written 15 years ago. Also very broad and covers about 15 states from what I remember...2-3-4 pages on each state. My advice is go to 2-3 sales. Figure out how it works where you are. Ask lots of questions. Ask lots of different people. See if they have an orientation session. Also ask around at your local REIA groups to find the tax sale experts. Once you figure it out...write the book.

For New Jersey there is a book called Tax Liens by Michael Pellegrino.  He lays out good groundwork.

@Raj G. I have been doing this for 15 years and I don't know of a good book other than the one mentioned the 16% solution.  If you live in NJ I would jump on the book @Joe Martella mentioned.

As others have said, the concept of tax liens is simple. The devil is in the details and each state, sometimes each county has it's own devil.  Therefore it is really tough to write a book that covers them all in enough detail to do much good. I have seen a lot of misinformation out there about tax liens.

Here on BP there are a lot of state specific threads and lots of general information about tax liens. I set up a "Keyword alert" for "tax lien" so I get notified when the topic comes up.

The best book would be one that is specific to the state that you would be purchasing the tax liens from.
