HELP! Buying a property with sales tax lien in Texas
I am trying to purchase a portion of a commercial property that has a lien on the owner for $52k. I have a contract to purchase the parking lot (a small portion) on the property for $35k. The owner has no issue putting all of the money he takes in towards the tax lien.
I called the tax office and they will not release the lien for the property in exchange for the proceeds of the sale. I have worked a deal with the tax office in the past when selling a business, but with real property they won't budge. Any advice on how to make this deal work?
This is in Texas.
