Kentucky Tax Lien Auctions

Hello, I have recently been doing research on tax lien auctions here in Kentucky. This information is much more difficult than what I imagined finding. I called my local courthouse and the best answer I received was that they thought the auction was in August and that the list of certs to be auctioned would be in the paper around May or June. Research online on auctions for some other counties such as those in Louisville or Lexington this information seems fairly accurate. I have read Jefferson county have a lottery instead of an auction. Can someone clarify if this is only for this county or if this is state wide? Are all the tax auctions for Kentucky in July or August? Thank you ahead of time for any help! If you have any other information you feel is relevant please feel free to share.

I'm not a fan of Kentucky tax liens. So my my understanding when I talked to Jefferson (Louisville) county clerk the process is that the delinquent tax list for 2015 comes out in April. This is where you do your research on the properties. The actual auction takes place in July I believe (get re assured with everything I say with the county clerks office). So now you need to decide what is your purpose for tax lien/deed investing, is it the 10% interest return or is it property acquisition. Jefferson county is a  lottery. So lets say you obtain the lien certificate after the redemption period (1 year) and you haven't been paid back ( more than likely they will) you have the right to foreclose on the property. So now you will need a lawyer to guide you through this process ( around $250 hr). once the property has been foreclosed  on it goes to a foreclosure auction (not sure on the dates) and up for bid. I much rather prefer Tennessee if your going for property acquisition. Another note Jefferson county has an over the counter list that you can purchase now (be aware its probably crap, multiple liens and other violations) and start the foreclosure process immediately. hopefully this helps and if im wrong at any point please feel free to correct
