Tax Liens and Deed for the Foreign Investor

I'm writing a series of articles for UK citizens wanting to invest in US real estate. I'm looking for your experiences on investing in tax liens/deeds -- it's not a concept we have in the UK and from my research, the jury's out as to whether they're a good thing for the passive, foreign investor. I'm particularly after sound bites and little nuggets of advice, things that went well, disasters, pitfalls etc. If anyone is happy to be quoted, all the better. You can remain anonymous/have a pseudonym. Can you help me?
