New Condo Owner in Boston: Is laundry-in-unit allowed?

Hello BP!

First-time condo owner looking for advice on adding in-unit laundry in South Boston!

I am renovating my first condo in an association that consists of three units with a common laundry in the basement (not free). I spoke to my contractor about adding an in-unit laundry as I feel that I can charge a bit more for rent if I had it in-unit laundry and it may appraise for more since I'm looking to refinance down the road. To my surprise, the contractor told me based on his experience, there's a slim to none chance of getting this installed, especially in Boston, because we would need written approval from the condo association and they would likely reject it partly due to work being needed in their unit as well to get this installed.

I'm wondering if anyone had any luck with getting this approved by their association and installed in their unit? Would I need to ask for permission/approval to get this work done?

Thanks in advance!
