Use and Occupancy Permit

Evan Jackson
Posted

Hi Guys!,

I just recently began the process of registering my property and scheduling a rental inspection. However while discussing this with someone from the registration department they mentioned I would also have to obtain a "use and occupancy" permit because my house has 2 dwelling units, and their records indicate only one. From my own research this would make my house a Owner Occupied "2 Family Dwelling."

I was informed I would have to get a "Building inspection" for this permit to record the undocumented dwelling, and I was wondering exactly what they will be looking for. Is it similar to the checklist for the rental inspection, or something more comprehensive?

I would love to hear your guy's experience with getting a "U and O" permit and how the inspection process should go/went for you.

Thanks!
