Cost of replacing pipes in Baton Rouge/Denham Springs area?

I'm looking at a home that is 40 to 50 years old in north Denham Springs that I think would be a good rental.  My biggest concern with the house is that it has old galvanized pipe that should be replaced in the near future.  Does anyone in the area know a ball park figure of how much it would cost to repipe the entire house with pex?  It's a 1500 square foot house.  On the internet I've seen prices range from $2,000 to $8000.
