Section 8 in KCK? Anyone have experience
Does anyone has experience trying to do Section 8 on the Kansas side in Wyandotte County? I am currently researching this option and interested in what other investors experience has been like.
1) Once you have your property licensed and passed to do section 8 how long does it generally take to get a tenant? Is there a surplus of properties or a shortage?
2) How difficult is it to get a property passed? I know inspectors can very as to how strict they are. I have been dealing with KCK city to get licensed every year and I am inspected every year right now with my property. But so far that process has not been to crazy. They ask for common sense safety issues to be done right, in my experience, nothing I would argue or complain about. I am wondering if that has been other people's experience with section 8?
Any tips on navigating the process of becoming section ready are welcome! Thanks folks!

I have some section 8 in wyco.
Here's how it works:
1. Your taxes must be current.
2. You must have your Wyco rental license/inspection.
3. After you have a section 8 tenant you want to lease to, you fill out the rent request form the tenant provides.
4. Section 8 will schedule their inspection with you. They will not inspect until you have a tenant.
5. They will give you the approval for move in. Doing so otherwise is at your risk for payment.
6. They pay the first month in arrears and will catch you up the second month.
The section 8 inspection is generally reasonable. The county one is as well as long as you maintain your places.
