Metal Roof, 1910 Single Family Home - Leak

I'm under contract for a single family home built in 1910. At some point someone replaced the roof and the current one is flat, metal. It's leaking. My first inclination was to replace the roof, but after further thought I'm wondering if the issue is elsewhere. I've got water damage on every ceiling on the upper story. Anybody run into something similar have any ideas on what kind of repair project I have ahead of me?
