My Neighbor Is A Licensed Contractor

I just purchased the home I'll be moving to in about a month's time and want to start some work on it before we move in (replace windows, replace some siding, etc). I learned that my neighbor is a licensed contractor so I looked him up, verified his license, liked his portfolio, gave him a call. We haven't yet met but after talking with a couple of people, realize that there could be a conflict of interest here.

Would you hire your neighbor to do work on your home? I can see the pros and the cons and would like to hear from you all. Thanks!

I would definitely meet with him and if you like his work and he can do it on your timeline and your budget, I don't see why not. I try and never do business with friends and family. But I don't see a lot of potential for risk in the things you are asking him to do. Congrats on your purchase!
