First flip / rehab: Managing a contractor for the first time. How hands on is too hands on?

I started my first flip. I seem to have a competent GC. I told him this was my first and that I want to be involved so I can be more hands off on subsequent projects. But how much is TOO MUCH?
I stop in every other day.
We talk updates daily.
He is there daily with his employee, but realistically, he is only there for 6-7 hrs.
Should I care, as long as he gets done by the deadline?
Obviously, I'm a little anxious on my first rehab that I've totally outsourced. I have some micro managing tendencies.
How do some experienced rehabbers manage their GC/Contractors? How have you refined that since you first started?
How much rope do you give a contractor you're using for the first time?

Thanks!
