Increase curb appeal

We purchased this old craftsman duplex in Chicago, rehabbing the inside to rent out- but wanted to see if anyone has ideas on how to increase the curb appeal on a budget.

Take out all those bushes. Create a new mulch bed where the old ones were and along the side of the porch, install small/medium sized boxwood bushes.
