On the fence about electrical service upgrade
Hey all!
Closed on our first multi family a few weeks ago. We currently have each meter separated out, but has 100A service. The units have electric furnaces, electric water heater, no washer/dryers, and the range is gas.
We had an electrician recommended to us by a contractor who is doing some extensive work inside some of these units. The electrician (licensed, and would be pulling permits) would upgrade all 4 electric panels to 200A service for $3k.
This sounds like a solid price, but not entirely sure we actually need it. Looking for some insight one way or another that might help with this decision. Thanks!

Yeah each panel has its own 100A service. The units are all under 800sqft, so I really didn’t think they would need 200A, but I was concerned that 100A wasn’t sufficient. Seems like most folks would leave it as it is, at least for the present. I can always come back and upgrade service later!
