Exterior and Interior House Colors - Logan Square Chicago

I'm doing a complete rebuild on a framed duplex in Logan Square, Chicago, after a fire at the house. I plan to rent the house for as long as possible.

I was not expecting to have the opportunity to choose the siding, gutters, roof, interior color schemes including countertops, etc. Does anyone have any advice for a good exterior and interior color schemes for the area that work well for rentals? My house is the yellow one below. You can see that most neighbors have brick houses.

Thanks John and Steven -- that is very helpful. I've decided on Cape Cod Grey for the exterior with a black roof. Then probably a darker grey for granite since I have white appliances already. I'll take definitely take your advice for painting the interior.
