Resources reccomended for Value Remodel

What books/resources do you guys recommend for adding value to a property? Im looking for something that gives rough estimates on alternatives. For example, "If I have an island in the kitchen, the home property can go up by X percentage in value." Simply looking for ideas on home design and what's out there. Thanks.

If such a book or website existed claiming a house will sell for a certain percent more with an island verse without, I wouldn’t trust it. Getting different ideas for “value adds” will most likely be house specific. You wouldn’t put in an island, wine cooler and sauna on a $75,000 house in a D area. You could hire a local designer, just remember they don’t work for free and no one can guarantee you sell for a higher price using their suggestions.
