Hello! I’m looking to jump and have capital lined up. However, I’m finding the search for my first step to be daunting. I’ve done my research but want to find the right broker to help me find the first piece of property. I know they are not all the same and looking for tips to help me find the right one. I am located in Burlington Vermont.

Hello!

I am a Real Estate Broker from Plattsburgh, (soon to be licensed in VT as well). Finding the right agent is a lot about finding a personality style you can work well with, but the agent also needs to be very driven. Finding an investment property that makes sense is not easy work so you need to find an agent that is willing to put the nose to the grind to find you the right deal. They do need to understand the financial end of investments so not every Realtor will be appropriate (but they WILL tell you they are, we are all commission-driven at the end of the day and need to make a sale.) Interviewing agents is very appropriate, tell them your straightforward needs, ask them questions, and if they don't fit your personality style or are coming up short with answers then move on to the next.
