I am going to pay my friend's 15 yr old son to do odd jobs on a flip. It will just be things like removing cabinet doors, sanding, changing door knobs, landscaping, cleaning up and all the little tedious time consuming tasks that don't require any skill. Probably won't amount to more than a couple hundred dollars. Is this something I can document for tax purposes, or am I just better off pretending like it didn't happen?

If my parents followed your advice I would have never become a real estate investor... I was a friggin indentured servant... learned all kinds of things stomping around construction sites. My first job which I can remember was turning nails.. and look at me know. I'm posting on BP.

I think more of our youth need to get their hands dirty and if they step on a nail shame on them for not watching where they were walking.

I live close to a high school and see these young adults drive up in their Hummers and BMWs. Its stupid... every one of them need to understand the discomfort of a blister from finishing concrete and reward of accomplishment.

As for claiming the expense I would proudly...
