Help me Fix This - Bathtub Window

Matt Moore
Posted

As you can see from the picture, this window in the bathtub has created a mess and there is rotted wood underneith.  As it stands, it is 36x36.  I need to resolve this within the next week.  The bathroom does have a vent.

What ideas or opinions do you have?

Options:

Order a Window

This would be my preference would be to put a sliding window in that is 36 by about 18.  That would keep a window but still look ok from the outside and reduce the water around the window.  I can't find any in stock windows this size and ordering is going to take a few weeks.  I can find 36x24 and that would help but probably would not solve the problem.

Glass Block

I would have to narrow the window as well since I can't find a combination of the available glass block sizes that would work to fill 36".  I can get the materials today at HD.  It would probably cost more than a window and could not be opened.

Eliminate the Window

As I think about it, this is seeming like the best choice.  It would probably cost less overall.  I will have to buy the exterior materials no matter the option.  It would eliminate all future issues.  I could add a bathroom can light connected to the vent at minimal cost.
