Replace Carpets with which LVP brand - Pacific Northwest
Hello, I'm new here and would like to ask for your experts. Maybe not related to investment. My mother moved in with us, she has dust allergies but my home is full of carpets. Beneath the carpet is some type of unfinished, un-even flooring. Edit: home is heated by gas furnace.
After 2 months of research & asking around, we will hire a trusted friend with 20 years of handyman/flooring experience to do the works (everything from Remove Carpet, redo underlayment floor, install new flooring). Another friend offered his 30% OFF discount voucher for Lowes & 15% OFF coupon HomeDepot (some kind of employee rewards of the month at his company). Yup, I wastefully used his 35% OFF voucher at Ashley Furniture store last month for my mom's bedroom.
Please advise me which LVP at Lowe's (to utilize the 30% off) or HomeDepot (to utilize the 15% off) for my needs? I will plan to do just 1 type from bathroom to kitchen and all other rooms (in preparation for my mom's future wheelchair usages). She liked to be on her barefeet in the meantime, ceramic/porcelain seems not pleasant (rugs on ceramic might slip?).
I researched Smartcore @ Lowes and Lifeproof @Homedepot. I had struggle debating about acceptable thickness at 5.5mm or thinner VS paying extra$ for 7mm or thicker
as well as wear layer of 12mil (acceptable/standard?) vs 20mil (more $)
Glue down (cheaper) vs Interlocking/Floating (more $)
The LVP/LVT recommended by you hopefully slip-resistant preferred, waterproof is a must.
Any other idea appreciated. Thanks.
Looking for 1700 sqft(including stairs and extra for storage, future replacements of individual planks)
Budget < or = $4 per sqft before Discounts if thru Lowe/Homedepot, mind us - Seattle is 10.1% tax
Thank you everyone
