Talented carpenter looking to get started

Hey BP community, I’m a carpenter out of central Mass looking to maximize my earning potential with my current skill set. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about dealing with contractors so I figured getting involved with real estate investing as my own contractor I’d be in a good position to have control over my projects and get the best financial return on the back end of the deals while also doing something I truly enjoy (building). I have no background in finance or investing and I was wondering who else has had success or failure swinging a hammer through their own rehabs. Thanks for the help!
