Door knocking distressed homes

So I currently work for a construction company.. cold calling jobsites is how I piCk up most of my new work and leads. I want to get into REI and I hear door knocking on distressed homes and such is a great way to pick up off market deals. As I drive around looking for jobsites I constantly see homes in need of work. Is it crazy to just pop by one, and say hey.. are you guys interested in selling your home? Or is that out of line. I’m beating myself up because I see all this opportunity and I’m nervous to just go after it. I guess I’m just looking for some closure on the fact that this is a practical way to pick up a deal. Give me some feedback!!!! Thanks

@Michael Junior In this world, if you don't ask, you don't get. When you see an opportunity, and fear begins to creep into your thoughts, tell yourself that you don't have the property now so if they do the worst thing they can do and throw you out, you've lost nothing but an opportunity to possibly help someone else in need of your assistance. Be courageous and kind. You can say almost anything to a total stranger as long as you have a smile on your face and love in your heart. Try it a few times. It will grow on you. Pretend you have girl scout cookies to sell. Good luck. Kind regards, J Napier
