Cabinet Pricing -October 2018; Asheville, NC
New member of BP here.
I'm installing new cabinets in a kitchen here in Asheville, NC. Home is smallish and in a nice part of town (Montford, walkable to downtown). My wife and I are currently living here, but plan to rent the home out in the near future. Been in town about 2 months.
It's taken me a bit of time to get these numbers, so I thought this might be helpful for someone in the area. I've certainly read enough on the forum, so I thought it was about time I (hopefully) contribute something.
Home Depot
American Woodmark; $7932
Lowes
Ethan Allen; $6850
Diamond Prelude; $8182
GBS Building Supply; Lumberyard
Waypoint 650 Shaker; $8466
Current plan is for a dark grey cabinets with a lighter color top. Thinking granite tops as quartz seems really expensive. The kitchen is a large "U" shape and calls for about 32 LF of lower cabinets and about 24 LF of uppers (there is an island). The lowest bid turn out to be about $122 LF. I'm planning to install myself. For those of you local to AVL, is there a good quality smaller cabinet builder (local) who could compete with these prices? Am I crazy to think I can employ local cabinet builders for a similar price? I like the idea of keeping the money local! FWIW, the last cabinets I bought were (3) years ago for our custom lake home in NW Minnesota. The cabinet builder was VERY good and the entire home (stained knotty Alder doors) were about $18,500. 4bd/3bath; Park Rapids, MN. thx in advance for any insight or thoughts! -CR

it's a 3bd/2bath home. with new kitchen and flooring it's likely worth $325'ish. The price per SF on renovated homes walkable to downtown is kinda high here. I'm planning to keep this home for a long time. yeah, it's nice here! I thought i'd lose more weight with all the mountain biking, but all the good beer is keeping a little insulation on me....helps my R value!
