Newbie with several questions

I have been reading many articles and have several questions:

1 - How many use a realtor, even before the reno is complete?

2 - has anyone just paid a few hundred to get listed on MLS and handled showing yourself?

3 - How many do most work themselves? I am a contractor and plan on doing most myself. I have a schedule already and plan to stick with it. Several items I have no experience with so I will sub those.
