garage door opener - make a copy?

is it possible to make a copy of the garage door opener? one of two openers was lost some time ago

Make a copy? That would be a lot of work :-). But you should be able to buy another one at a hardware store. They all have some means of programming in a code, so you'll need to set the switches, move the jumpers or program the new one to have the same code as the old one.
