Find Contractor or Warranty Info

If this is not in the right forum, I apologize in advance. My dilemma... I had a water main break in the property I'm renting. My landlord had a plumber come out to inspect it. The plumber said it's PVC piping was leaking. He also stated there's a possibility the piping could still be under warrantee. I volunteered to assist my landlord in finding the original contractor/installer of the piping. Here are the facts I've found so far...

1. I found the building permit

2. The original builder is out of business and may be deceased.

3. I found the inspector of the property but no contact information for him

4. I called the Registrar of Contractors and they only have jurisdiction over work that's happened within the last 2 years.

5. Property was built in 1996

I'm fresh out of ideas. But I was thinking if I could at least find out the contractor who installed the piping, I could find if it's still under warrantee. I don't know...Any suggestions or are we just out of luck?

Thanks in advance!
