Removing wallpaper and paint questions.

A house I will likely be placing a bid on Monday has ugly torn wallpaper which will need to be removed.   I have experience removing wallpaper with a wet sponge and scraper as a kid and it was a nightmare. I will be purchasing a wallpaper steamer to make the job easier. Any advice on how to make the removal easier would be helpful. 

After the wallpaper is removed how do I prepare the walls for paint? The walls are textured and painted underneath and the wallpaper I did before was put directly on the gypsum boards which had to be finished before painting.

Another question I have access to an airless paint sprayer. Its almost 20 years old but has never been used. What are the chances it is still usable? What is the best paint to use with it? My paint options are limited. I only have a Home Depot, a Walmart and A True Value to purchase paint from locally. I would have to drive 2 hours to purchase paint anywhere else.
