Keep calcium chloride and sand dry
I'm risking sounding like a danged fool here but I have a problem that honestly I should've solved 20 years ago.
We keep calcium chloride and sand/salt in 5 gallon pails at all our buildings. We keep them in entry ways or at least covered porches. The problem is that every year at least 25% of our calcium ends up getting damp (even humid days when there's a big snow pack but a 40 degree day will do it). Once it gets wet, it solidifies and we can't get it out (I've even gone Rambo and used an electric drill with auger bit and it took 30 minutes to get it out!). So we probably throw away 5 buckets with $20 worth of calcium in them each year.
Is there an easier way? Obviously having a little "shack" for them similar to what people build for their garbage cans might work, but honestly, this even happens when it's super humid out, like I said earlier.
Thanks for any tips you all might have!
