Oil in the Water of a House I'm Considering Buying
Hello, I am looking into a potential investment property (my first) in southern Virginia and there is a foreclosure that looks promising, but it appears someone (guessing the previous owner) dumped a bunch of oil around (and maybe in) the well. Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation, any guidance on whether this is a deal killer, and what it would take to get this remediated?
Thank you for your insights!

Assuming it is contaminated, it wouldn't be mortgageable. Not easily, anyway.
Someone would have to pay cash and go through the trouble of dealing with the clean up.
That spill looks pretty large. Doesn't look like someone just dumped a quart or two.
oil near drinking water is a big issue for homes with buried heating oil tanks or above ground tanks leaking.
