Finding a General Contractor

Hi All!!  I'm a newbie and looking at investing in out-of-state properties in Alabama.  Can anyone tell me how to find a good, investor-friendly general contractor near the Jasper, AL area?  I've gone to Google and Yahoo but they give me companies located in Birmingham and most of them don't travel over 10 miles away.  Does anyone in the South have any suggestions for me?
