Most you ever spent on renovations

My name is James and I'm in my mid twenties living in the greater Los Angeles area. I have finally saved up some money I am interested in house hacking a duplex. I am trying to get a rough understanding of how much I should save up for renovation cost to get the property in rentable condition. What was the most you have spent on fixing up a small multi family property? I know this is a very general question but I am just trying to get a feel for the worst case scenario. Thank you in advance!
