Contractors and Investors Working Together Towards a Common Goal?

Hello I am a contractor and have been for several years.  I have worked with investors through the years and am very familiar with the dark side of construction and have never agreed with it, however the more I work with investors the more I realize the investors see the bottom line on a deal however they don't understand how that bottom line affects the contractor.  Because of this the contractor has to up-charge on their work because investors tend to need them to be a lot cheaper than they can actually be.

My question to newbies and experienced investors is this.... what would be the ideal situation for you with your renovation specialist?  How can a contractor truthfully help you make your project a success and be profitable without them going under in trying to get you to your bottom line?
