Range ventilation needed?

Hello all,

I am working on my first flip and we came up with an open kitchen with an island that has the oven in it. I posted earlier with the design and someone brought up the fact of the range needing ventilation. I was thinking of putting anything in.

What do you normally do for your houses? The ARV is approximately 240k and it is most likely a starter home for an FHA buyer.

Thanks,

Mat

If you have made any effort to reasonable air seal the building envelope, then you need the range hood to extract stale air and humidity as a regular air exchanger will not typically be able to adapt to accommodate cooking.

Even if your house is not tight, it is still appropriate to properly vent the cook top to prevent moisture damage and grease build-up on the ceiling above.
