Asbestos Shingles

Hey BP,

I am currently looking at a home with asbestos shingles. The shingles are in extremely rough shape and I want to install vinyl siding on the home. I am aware of asbestos shingles and how they break extremely easy if you nail into them. My question is has anyone installed vinyl siding over asbestos shingles? Do you need to get the shingles removed before installing the vinyl siding? Typically, how much does it cost to remove theses shingles? I've been doing research online and I am getting prices and information thats not even close.
