Anybody have an Idea of how to fix this shower door problem?

This is a ridiculous set up for a bathroom, but I don't have a huge budget to improve this but I know its not something the tenant is going to want to deal with. Any ideas on a good way to make this function properly? 

My contractor had the idea of taking out the door and just adding a shower rod and curtain but I felt that was even worse for a stand up shower.
