Open Shelving kitchen for rentals

Has anyone tried incorporating open shelving in their kitchen remodels? Specifically for rentals? Pros/cons? Good experiences?

Seems like a good way to lower costs and up the wow/desirability factor.

Having been in the woodworking/cabinetry business, I know they were trendy for awhile, but only for a small market.

If your tenants have a cat (if you allow pets) they'll hate open shelves. Cat's are curious and will climb around and break dishes/glasses. Dusting has to be done more frequently too.

My 2 cents.
