raising ceilings on 1960s cross hip roof house with trusses
we are trying to find information on raising the ceilings on our 2000sf house. the ceilings currently are not even 8ft tall and we plan on renovating since we will be staying here a long time. We are getting mixed responses saying we have to remove and replace all the trusses and roof at approx $60,000 to cutting into existing trusses but only gaining height in a 12 x 18 ft area. Someone also mentioned they knew of someone else having a crane lift the existing trusses and roof and just adding block around exterior walls to raise height and then redo interior walls. Any ideas because we are really confused. House is in florida so exterior is all block.
