Permit requirements in Romeoville, IL

Hello I am wondering if anyone with experience in doing rehabs in Romeoville, IL would be able to share with me village/city requirements for doing rehab? What is the general process for obtaining permits and timeline, permit requirements (what sort of work would require permits), and cost of such permits and inspections. I want to ensure I am factoring that cost for the rehab work. I plan to replace roof, gutters, change kitchen flooring, and update bathroom flooring, tiles, and vanity, replace water heater, and some paint job. I don't intend to do any major plumbing or electrical as they seem ok. I am also looking for a list of cabinet suppliers. I could go to big box stores, but I was told that sometimes cabinet suppliers could give some discounted pricing. Thanks in advance for your input.

"Thorough"......   Interesting word choice there.

But based on the horror stories from a couple of people I know - one of whom is an investor there and the other does some work there as an electrician - that town is one of the toughest towns in that area you're going to find.

Be prepared to cry.... :-)

btw: Based on your list here is what you'll probably need
1) Roof. Thats mandatory and every village requires a permit to replace the roof.
2) Water heater. Definitely. Thats also pretty common.
3) Bathroom vanity. That is going to require a permit as well. Several villages require a permit for anything where the plumbing fixture has to be removed and then reconnected. I'm not sure on the ville but if I had to guess based on how tough they are, it would be yes.

btw: Several towns I'm in down here even require a plumbing permit to replace countertops, vanities, etc - even if i'm not moving a line or anything. They're logic is that only a licensed plumber can adequately connect a faucet.

Also, like Scott said before. If its a foreclosure, the village does some sort of presale inspection that will require you to do a lot more work than you may like. So be sure you consider that as well.  Scott can tell you how that works far better than I can. But their lists are something crazy and you have to fix every single item in order to get occupancy - whether you want to or not.
