solo sheet rocking of ceiling

it was suggested to me to just cut the 4x8 sheets in half to be able to manage by myself although it's a lot more taping/floating.  I've also heard of "lifts" to hold it up.

Suggestions?

I've used @Max T.'s trick to rock ceilings by myself.  Its a pain in the you-know-where.  Rent or buy a lift.  Harbor Freight has a cheap one:

$200 bucks, which really means $160 with a ubiquitous Harbor Freight 20% off coupon.   I guarantee it will be worth it.

Or, get a helper.

Never, ever, ever create more joints in your drywall than are absolutely essential.  Taping and floating are a lot more work than hanging.
