Dryer Plug Issue

I am trying to add a dryer in my new unit. The trouble is, we discovered that the plug for the dryer is not a standard dryer plug. It looks like either an oven plug or something similar. Is this something that I can easily change myself, or should I get a Pro to do it?

If you're installing a new dryer the plug that they recommend for the appliance will dictate the plug outlet geometry as well as the breaker amperage.

Read the installation instructions carefully because the newer plugs are 4 wire & can be confusing if you're not familiar with the intracies of wiring diagrams.

I also run all new (4) wiring to the panel & a new breaker if it's an old installation.

I did 2 this week & found the old (3) wire, outlet(s) & breaker(s) I replaced were in poor/suspect condition.

However, based on your questions a Pro would be your best strategy to avoid any nasty surprises.
