Bought a house with new carpets but that oh too familiar urine smell

Fannie Mae obviously tried to hide the fact that this house was infested by something domesticated or foreign. Normally, I'd tear it all out and recarpet or finish the hardwoods underneath.  But it's new carpet, so I hate wasting the carpet.

I'm assuming the urine is in the padding.  Do I just need to replace the padding?  Someone told me to steam clean with amonia, anyone know anything about that? The smell has to go!

remove the carpet. treat the floors with ODORXIT(as they instruct)

When done put back down the pad and carpet.

It works.

Voice of experience.

7-8 years ago we flipped a house. I did not know how to fix so we sanded the wood floors, and then I send my wife in with a bottle of bleach. It about killed her(not diluted enough). then we put on a coat of poly, new pad, and new carpet. up goes the for sale sign.

We got a buyer fairly quick and then we had a late spring heat wave with humidity. The seller, and realtor said it did not smell right, like urine.  Ouch.

I scrambled to figure out what to do. Found ODORXIT. Talked to him about what to do. He sent me the product and we pulled the carpet and pad and used it as was instructed.

When it dried we reinstalled the carpet and closed on the house. Never heard from the buyers again about any smells.

Over the years we have used the product several times. It works.
