Laminate Sheet Goods

STR beach condo renovation slightly above builder's grade but not super high end. Contractor is suggesting laminate sheet goods for entire floor. I haven't worked with anything but hardwood and tile in recent years but would prefer a cheaper, waterproof option if it looks decent. I will go see samples but figured you folks could give a definitive thumbs down if this is just today's version of cheap linoleum. Thanks in advance.
